Clinical or Technical Grade?

As a general principle, clinical grade Dextran should be applied whenever Dextran is used in a pharmaceutical product or medical device.

Clinical grade Dextran products should be used as Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), excipients or as carriers in pharmaceutical drug products. Furthermore they are highly suited for a variety of other healthcare purposes where high purity is imperative.

Oppositely, if the Dextran is not intended for use in a pharmaceutical product or medical device, technical grade Dextran may be the appropriate choise.
