When Amersham Biosciences, now GE Healthcare, terminated production of Dextran, Pharmacosmos entered a worldwide agreement with Amersham to overtake its supplies of its high quality pharmacopeial Dextran products.
Pharmacosmos is manufacturing Dextran with the same quality as Amersham Biosciences/GE Healthcare and with same degree of branching. We are pleased to confirm that Dextran from Pharmacosmos in all aspects is similar to Dextran previously supplied by Amersham Biosciences/GE Healthcare.
Furthermore, Pharmacosmos is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and certified by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM).

No. We deliver directly from Denmark (Europe) to any company address worldwide. We do not collaborate with distributors.
Yes. We use international couriers such as UPS and FedEx. Should you have individual shipping preferences, we shall, however, be pleased to comply therewith.
For small quantities, please expect shipment by international courier approximately 4-7 days after receipt of payment. For large quantities, please contact us for more information.
Yes. We will send you the tracking number as soon as possible after the goods have been collected at our offices.
No. We manufacture and supply Dextran only. Both quality and reproducibility of Dextran derivates rely on the starting materials. For optimal product quality of Dextran derivates, application of high quality Dextran is imperative.
Pharmacosmos is very experienced in supply of Dextran for synthesis of Dextran derivates. If possible, we will be pleased to help identifying manufacturers of Dextran derivates.

No. Neither our Dextran products nor any raw material used in the manufacture thereof contain any ingredients of material of human or animal origin.
No. No materials used in the manufacturing processes of Pharmacosmos Dextran are susceptible to TSE (ref. European Commission Decision 97/534/EC, Ph. Eur. chapter 5.2. transmitting animal spongiform encephalopathy agents via medicinal products and the related general monograph no. 1483, EMEA/410/01 rev.2 and Resolution AP-CSP (99) 4).
No. According to Article 2(9) of the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006, Dextrans are polymers of glucose and, therefore, exempted from the obligation to register. Furthermore, the monomer of Dextran products (glucose) does not have to be registered as glucose is exempted from the obligation to register in accordance with Article 2(7)(a).
Additionally, clinical grade Dextrans used as API in human or veterinary medicinal products or used as additive in food or feeding stuff are exempted from registration according to Article 2(5)(a) and Article 2(5)(b) respectively.
Yes. We support certain student projects whose objectives e.g. are to investigate new applications of Dextran or Dextran properties.
